This means shit to you unless you are fabulously OCD, in which case, you know it means that Dunsany won the most awesome copy of Just Dance 2 for the Wii!!! Well, technically, it's just like every other copy, I suppose, but I feel like it's the most awesome because OMG FREE!! P.S. Dunsany, I need your mailing address. :) You can find my contact info at the top of Califmom.com.

CalifmomReviews: Just Dance 2 for the Wii Product Review and Giveaway

51eiMi0NvGL._SL160_Holy dripping balls o’ sweat. Perhaps waiting until the night before I board a flight to Seattle for a ten-day vacation with the family was not the BEST time to try out Just Dance 2 by Ubisoft. Why?

  • It’s addicting.

  • I’m woefully out of shape.

  • I’m a wee bit competitive.

  • I didn’t think my tween and teen would love it as much as they did.

Mama’s gonna be SORE tomorrow. If you me at SFO tomorrow, I’ll be the one riding on my rolling suitcase while my kids wheel me to the ticket counter.

Here’s what rocks about Just Dance 2:

  • A variety of REAL SONGS by REAL ARTISTS (Avril Lavigne, Beastie Boys, Rolling Stones, Fatboy Slim…you get the idea.)

  • 4 Ways to play – Dance Crew Face-Off (you can get up to 8 players going in this mode as long as you’ve got the remotes), Dancing Duets, Dance Party Mode (this is how the kids and I played), and Just Sweat Mode (I may have played in this mode and done a week’s worth of exercise in one night…WHAT? I told you it’s addicting!)

Best of all, if you have your camera at-the-ready, you can score loads of photos and video for blackmailing friends and family members!

  • Now, for the good news, if you want to score a copy of Just Dance 2 for the Wii, you can do it one of two ways. You can buy one at a retailer like Amazon OR you can leave me a comment on this post by midnight, November 21st, and enter the GIVEAWAY I’m hosting thanks to the generous folks at Ubisoft who’ve given me an extra copy of Just Dance 2 to give to one of you!

The fine print: While Ubisoft sponsored this review, the opinions I've expressed here are solely my own and represent my honest viewpoint. Ubisoft, Clever Girls Collective and I promote Blog With Integrity.

If you need me, I'll be soaking my aching muscles in the hot tub.

UPDATE: We Have A WINNER! Thank you all for entering. Remember, you can pick up a copy of Just Dance 2 at retailers like Amazon.

Review: Sex And The City 2 Soundtrack

Once again, I was selected by One2One Network to receive a free copy of a CD in exchange for providing my honest opinion of the CD on my blog. This time it was the Sex and the City 2 Soundtrack.

I'll just state up front, I haven't seen the movie, so this review is based solely on the merits of the music itself. That said, I hated it.

Really. I wanted to like something about it considering I didn't like the last CD I reviewed for One2One Network. But I didn't.

Liza Minnelli singing "Single Ladies"? One of the most excruciating auditory experiences OF MY LIFE. Nobody should live through that. Shouldn't happen. Wasn't OK.

The decision by the powers that be to have the Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon sing "I Am Woman"? WTF? Really? I'm not sure the four of them would be capable of pulling off "Happy Birthday" with the assistance of Autotune.

Maybe I would have liked the whole thing better if I'd seen the movie, but I'm guessing, based on the reviews I've read for the movie, that's probably not the case.

Sorry kids, this one's getting a big fat NO from me.

If you want to check out the entire line-up of fabulous tunes, here's the whole shebang:

1. Alicia Keys “Rapture”
2. Dido “Everything to Lose”
3. Cee Lo “Language of Love”
4. Erykah Badu “Window Seat”
5. Natacha Atlas “Kidda”
6. Michael McGregor “Euphrates Dream”
7. Liza Minnelli “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”

8. Ricki-Lee "Can't Touch It"

9. Alicia Keys "Emire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down"

10. Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis "Love Is Your Color"

11. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon “I Am Woman”

12. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “If Ever I Would Leave You”

13. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Sunrise, Sunset”

14. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Till There Was You”

15.  Shayna Steele, Jordan Ballard, Kamilah Marshall “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”

16.  Liza Minnelli with Billy Stritch “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye”

17.  Cyndi Lauper “True Colors”

18.  Aaron Zigman “Divas and Dunes”

Review: Harry Connick Jr. - Your Songs

I was selected by One2One Network to receive a free copy of Harry Connick Jr.'s new CD, Your Songs in exchange for providing my honest opinion in a review on my blog.

HCJ_05_028

I have to say, I do love me some Harry Connick Jr. I love it when he croons. I can even watch him in a less than stellar performance like Hope Floats. But when it comes to old classics, I tend to prefer the original crooners to remakes. So, when I gave this CD a listen, I have to admit, hearing Harry do these old classics wasn't the same as hearing Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, or Elvis. At least, not for me.

The CD features these classics (orignally performed by):

All The Way (Frank Sinatra)

Just The Way You Are (Billy Joel)

Can’t Help Falling In Love With You (Elvis Presley)

And I Love Her (The Beatles)

(They Long To Be) Close To You (The Carpenters)

Besame Mucho

The Way You Look Tonight

First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
(Roberta Flack)

Your Song (Elton John)

Some Enchanted Evening

And I Love You So
(Don McLean)

Who Can I Turn To? (Tony Bennett)

Smile (Charlie Chaplin)

Mona Lisa (Nat King Cole)

I wanted to love it, I really did. But in the end, I have to say I like my Harry Connick Jr. more jazzy and upbeat. I'll take my classics from the old classics. That said, I still wouldn't kick him out of bed for eatin' crackers.
