A Day Of Rest

After a week filled with visitors from far and wide, we kept today quiet at the hospital -- just a few close family members and one friend.

The body needs rest to heal, which by some amazing miracle, Bob's body is at least trying to do.

His platelets are coming up, heart rate is staying in the 110s instead of the 150s, his chest isn't draining much the past couple days, and it looks like his white and red blood cell counts will support him receiving chemo sometime this week -- maybe as early as Tuesday.

Until then, we're working to get support in place to bring him home where he'll be more comfortable.

Sounds like a great day and thanks for the update. I prayed for Bob and your family this morning at mass and asked God to work a miracle for your family. I know that I don't personally know you guys but as a wife and mother, I have so much respect for you and your strength, sense of humor, love for your husband & family, guts and dedication. I just somehow feel like with you at his side, your wonderful husband will beat this!!! Happy Easter!!!Sue PozniakHolly, Michigan

You don't know me. I founded Space Time Insight and work with Bob. I have spent a good portion of my weekend reading over your chronicles. At this hour of need, all I want to tell you is that, I am filled with a lot of hope for you and your family. I can see Bob coming back to work and doing what he does best... Charming everyone along his way..... How do I know it?.... I don't, I just think that this universe is built with checks and balances. Clearly, you have seen your portion of grievances. Something tells me that Bob is emerging out of this and that we are going to see him at work in a few weeks / months. We are ready for him, complete with his desk, computer, coffee and all...You are an inspiration, to us all !!!

You're right, if I click the button that says "comments", comments show up, how about that! It was good seeing you guys and I was really excited to see Bob fighting like a mother fucker. I said a prayer for him to get some more chemo this week and get up to the plate for that damn transplant. I'll come back for a visit in a couple weeks and hope that visit will be waving through a glass window at Stanford. WHEN you make it to Stanford let me know the date and I'll haul my rig up for you and your family to use.

My husband and I went to High School with Bobby. I am praying for a miracle for him, and peace for you and your family. I remember him as an incredibly strong, and stubborn, person. If anyone can beat the odds, I truly believe he can.

I read a story about a monk who was chased by tigers off a cliff. He managed to hold on to a branch halfway down the cliff, but his relief was shortened by the discovery of two more tigers at the bottom, and no help in sight.

Suddenly he saw a big, ripe strawberry hanging from the branch. He picked and ate it, and it was the juiciest, most delicious strawberry he'd ever eaten.

Keep your eyes peeled for strawberries.
