Friends, Family, Unicorns

So many hundreds, maybe thousands, of you are either praying for our family or sending us good thoughts, virtual cupcakes and various forms of “Fuck Cancer” vibes. We thank you all. High-five you and give you a virtual hip bump. Right. And Left.

You make it possible for me to get out of bed each day. Give the motivation to keep moving forward, keep moving toward the goal. Whether you are blood relatives, friends in real-life, or my “pretend internet friends”(aka unicorns), you have all been amazing at propping us up, me especially. I feel like I’m made out of Jell-O most days, and not a fun flavor, either. More like that plain Knox Gelatin. Ew.

So, keep The Prayers, Good Thoughts, Virtual Cupcakes, Chants of Fuck Cancer, and The Funny coming because I am living on a steady diet of it all.

There’s even talk of some bubble-wrap hill rolling on the horizon. It’s that or bridge jumping, and I think the hill-rolling will be more cathartic with a better outcome and possibly better youtube footage.

If you’re looking for a technical update on the big C, it’s down below, under Technical Update, cuz that’s catchy and about all the creativity I can crap out right now.

Technical Update:

Hubs has officially been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma, a form of cancer affecting the lymph system. It is one of the more common types of lymphoma affecting people in the U.S. At present, we do not know his stage. He is scheduled to receive a PET scan Thursday, has his first Oncology appointment Monday, and a MUGA Scan on April 2nd. We will know more about his staging and treatment protocol after that time and will keep you updated as we know more.

I've said it once, I'll say it again (though I'll try to vary the phrasing each time) - fuck, fuck, fuck those little cancer buggers. My thoughts, good juju, prayers, virtual cupcakes, island getaway fantasies and everything else are with you and the entire family.

Invest in some good bubble bath and top shelf liquor.

And, please, film the bubble wrap rolling. Will you be using the big stuff or the little stuff?

If I really were a unicorn, I'd be more useful... Something I recall about unicorn horns having healing properties.

well I'm feeling somewhat better after doing a little research on how much the treatment has differed (and classification) since I lost my friend Justin to it 20 yrs ago.

And the type he has? Has the best survival rates of them all, so that's semi-good news
